Rockstar Games Releases Strange New Video – GameRant

Rockstar Games shares a strange new video online and fans speculate about what the developer could be hinting at in this bizarre clip.
Rockstar Games has shared a strange new video out of nowhere. Rockstar Games is best known for developing the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises, which have been massive successes. As an example, Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold over 170 million units since its original release in 2013, with Red Dead Redemption 2 sitting at 45 million copies.
2022 has already been a wild year for Rockstar Games, as the next major GTA game was leaked earlier in the year. It included extensive gameplay footage from an in-development Grand Theft Auto 6, and it also confirmed a dual protagonist setup for the game. The whole incident involved a hacker getting access to the source code of GTA games and demanding to speak to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, presumably to cut a deal. While many games leak ahead of their scheduled announcements, most are not subject to a hack on this level.

Rockstar Games has now shared a bizarre video on its Twitter account that consists of unsettling background sounds along with a mishmash of colors. It begins and ends with the Rockstar Games logo flashing with the same assortment of colors, but doesn’t point to anything concrete. The clip is only 15 seconds long, but some believe that Rockstar is teasing GTA 6 in the video. A leak pointed to GTA 6 having a big focus on drug cartels, so some players think that the video could be connected to the central theme of the game.
On the other hand, others believe that Rockstar Games is simply promoting the latest update for Grand Theft Auto Online titled Los Santos Drug Wars. This update went live on December 13, and it’s said to inject a “psychoactive strain of chaos into Grand Theft Auto Online.” The description matches the clip in some ways, but it’s unclear if the strange video is connected to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 or if Rockstar Games is just promoting the Los Santos Drug Wars update.
While there isn’t any official release date for GTA 6, a rumor pointed to it coming out in 2025. If this rumored date turns out to be true, it would result in a massive 12-year gap between two mainline titles in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. By comparison, GTA 5 came out around five years following the release of GTA 4, with the gap being even shorter in previous entries.
