Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse basketball team takes on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the JMA Wireless Dome.

Joe Girard led all scorers with 24 points. Maliq Brown records his first double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Five Syracuse players scored in double figures overall.
The Orange were 8-of-16 from 3-point range while the Hokies countered with a putrid 3-of-19 mark from beyond the arc.
Syracuse improves to 11-6 (4-2) on the season with the win. The Orange next host Notre Dame at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

The rebounding edge has tightened up in this game after the Orange had a big edge there. 34-33 in favor of SU. Virginia Tech leads in the second half there by a mark of 20-16.

The Hokies run capped at 10-0 and put a little scare into the Orange, but SU is maintaining the lead down the stretch.

The Hokies have cut into SU’s lead with a 8-0 run but still trail by 14 points.

Virginia Tech had lost four straight coming in to tonight’s game but none were by more than 5 points. This is uncharacteristic for the Hokies and a credit to how locked in Syracuse is tonight.

SU has out-scored VT 12-4 so far since halftime. Girard still leads all scorers with 14 points.

The Orange grab its largest lead out of halftime with a score from Girard, who has 11 points, and a 3-pointer from Chris Bell.

Some juice in the Dome as Joe Girard fires up an alley oop to Jesse Edwards who slams it home. Edwards has 5 points and 3 assists. He had just four points against Virginia.
