Inquiring minds wanted to know what was going on last Tuesday, Oct. 11, when a crane was operating next to Park Rapids’ Hatch Avenue water tower, and people were seen walking on top of the water tank.
City Administrator Angel Weasner confirmed Friday that this was unrelated to the city’s water service. Instead, she said, a company that rents space on the tower was replacing three pieces of cellular communications equipment.
According to Weasner, T-Mobile leases space on the water tower for their equipment. This year, they requested permission to do site maintenance, and plans were reviewed and approved in July to remove three pieces of equipment and replace them with three new pieces, as well as to install three antennas and additional fiber line.
