Ubisoft Massive Entertainment has shared a post hyping up 2023 as a major year, with Star Wars as a focal point in their plans. Meanwhile, a separate report indicates that the game may have post-launch monetization factored into it.

The Star Wars title from Ubisoft Massive was first announced in January 2021, with few details known about the title other than the fact it would be an open-world game after their existing work on the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was said to have impressed Disney. Otherwise, updates on the title have been on the quiet side… At least until the first day of 2023, when Ubisoft Creative Director Julian Gerighty posted a vague tease about the upcoming, still-untitled Star Wars game that Ubisoft Massive is developing. Check it out below:

Ubisoft Massive recently sent out a flyer claiming that they were looking for playtesters on their Star Wars title, so it could be possible that the game may release sooner than one would expect. However, it’s more likely that the title is still early into development, and that the upcoming news is more likely to be a small first look as opposed to a major reveal with a release date. That being said, playtesters aren’t the only people the company is looking for at this time, as a job listing (hat tip Exputer) has noted that the company is also looking for monetization specialists for future titles. This may not apply specifically for their new Star Wars game — as many AAA titles are featuring monetization in some way, be it through cosmetics, post-launch DLC, or seasonal passes — and it may instead apply to their Avatar title. Knowing the gaming industry, there will be many options on the table.

The untitled Star Wars game from Ubisoft Massive is now in active development. Their next release, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, is set to arrive later this year after missing a 2022 release.
